I wonder, however, whether this is in fact how we should be socializing our children - to play nice. Is this truly in their best interest? Is this an approach that prepares them well for their life ahead? Does this develop in them the necessary skills to deal with conflict in the future?

For the process to work, we must observe without evaluating actions, identify feelings in ourselves and others, uncover the need at the root of the feeling and, clearly request what we need with positive language.

Leadership is not about being intellectually superior, authoritative and powerful. Competence is necessary, but it is simply the cost of entry. Being a great boss is about your ability to foster collaborative relationships and grow the leaders around you.
