Don’t allow age to stop you. Age has nothing to do with it.

Dr. Mario Martinez, in his book The MindBody Code, describes the impact of cultural beliefs on aging; including a study of the longest living humans (centenarians) and the four traits that these Individuals share.

4 Core Traits of the Longest-Lived People

  1. Growing older is the passing of time; aging is what we do with time based on our cultural beliefs.

Our beliefs around getting older have a powerful impact on our experience. The Longest Lived People, deny cultural beliefs and create their own reality.

  2. The present moment is never too late to make commitments.

Centenarians start taking tango lessons, get married and start jogging in their 80s, 90s and beyond. They are not deterred by their age nor do they use it as an excuse.

  3. Illnesses are learned; the causes of health are inherited.

This is a section around epigenetics and the impact of our minds and environments on the expression of genes.

  4. Forgiveness is a liberating act of self-love.

Among centenarians he found a deep ability and capacity to not hold grudges, even when faced with massive atrocities.

Don’t allow age to stop your professional endeavours - you are never too old to start, stop or change.
