Stop and Be

This past weekend, I worked on simply being, not doing. I know what you're thinking ...how "woo woo" of you!

Yes, as a high achieving professional woman that runs her own coaching company, helps run the family coffee business and is raising 3 small children, I totally get it.

A few years ago, I would have even agreed with you.

But here's the thing, so many of us live in auto-pilot. We run around from one 'to do' to the next without taking the time to figure out what we're all running towards. What's our intention with all this doing? What are we really trying to achieve? What is truly important to us?

Is it the executive level title we're seeking, the big pay check, the accolades of others, or are we simply trying to pay our bills or debts? What are we missing out on by not investing time to take stock of our lives, to check in and see what exactly we're feeling, what's working and what's not and how we can improve things.

In every business I've run, we've done just that. We've had a vision we're working towards, KPIs to measure our progress and ongoing check-ins to ensure we were still on the right track.

Why then is this foreign, or 'woo woo', when we apply these sound business principles to our own lives.

Why not set aside time to create a vision for yourselves, determine your values, evaluate your progress and tap into your feelings?

This is what I did this weekend. I joined a group of coaches with a variety of backgrounds including doctors, engineers, financial executives, etc., and we checked-in. We focused on being, not doing. We became present, identified feelings, sat with them, gained new awareness, created new plans and became accountable to move towards them.

What a wonderful opportunity and privilege to be able to do so and help others do the same.
