Fears and Doubts and Insecurities...Oh My!

Do you have fears, doubts and insecurities?

Of course you do, so do I ...and so does that hugely successful person you admire that seems to have all their sh*t in order.

Every single person I've met and coached is afraid, has doubts and struggles with insecurities at times.

If you're attempting to squash these thoughts entirely, good luck. I haven't found the secret sauce and honestly I don't think it exists. As humans we are hard-wired to experience these and what we do when they bubble up is what really matters.

So what should you do when faced with fear, doubt and/or insecurities that are keeping you from progressing?

Step 1:

Accept the feeling. Don't fight it. Name it. Acknowledge it. Remind yourself that everyone has these feelings.

Step 2:

Reconnect with your why. What do you want to do with this one life you have? (Not to sound dramatic or anything!) What impact do you want to make? What is truly important to you?

Step 3:

Think of the positive possibilities on the other side of your fear. If you were to start that new career you've been dreaming about...what would be possible? If you were to take on that high profile project that you are nervous about, what impact could you make? Dream about all of the beautifully positive possibilities on the other side of your fear, doubt or insecurity.

Step 4:

Take action. Despite the fear, the doubts and insecurities, train yourself to simply take action. Train your brain to go when you tell it to go. Create a plan that involves consistent and incremental action that moves you closer to your ultimate goal and do it! One step and day at a time until it becomes a habit.

Step 5:

Find an accountability partner. Find someone that will hold you to your commitments, remind you of your dreams, acknowledge your strengths and champion you along the way.

Fears, doubts and insecurities are simply a part of life. The action you take despite them is fully within your reach and completely within your power.

Move on, move forward, life is way too short not to take a chance.
